This is tape 101 of the Body Image Development Program. It's simply a recording of a discussion group we had. I want to thank you for asking me to join you this evening just to share a discussion about the Body Image Development Program. I'm already having a great time and I really hope that each of you will find it a true help and a final permanent answer to that universal nightmare of obesity. I can only say that if you participate and follow the directions it never, never fails. A hundred percent of the time it works and you'll have such positive, marvelous side effects you'll hardly believe it. And I hope you'll just kind of discount those little birds in the background.

They seem to be a part of my life. I want you to know that this program is not offered in any way as a treatment for any disease or pathological problem. It's not offered as a medical treatment of obesity. It's not offered as a medical treatment of anything. It's designed specifically for the purpose of modifying a person's feelings and ideas regarding caloric intake, body reshaping, and that old bug of a weight control. It's also for the purpose of building positive self-esteem and better overall health. You're going to use your subconscious mind, and we're going to reprogram it, and we're going to set new goals for it. Now this program is a new and different approach to reshaping your body.

So you're going to have to make some changes. You're going to have to clear your mind of past experiences related to any type of weight reduction program you've previously experienced, unless perhaps it's been through a self-hypnosis or a hypnosis type of program. And then it will be a little bit similar. But there won't even be changes in that, from that to this. You're going to start immediately to replace old concepts with new ideas and we're going to discuss them. First of all, I'd like to point out that these tapes, they won't do anybody one iota of good if they're not used.

So you're going to have to use them. And also you need to use them in the order and the time frames that we've worked out for you. We've done a lot of in-depth research and it's allowed us to work out this program in such a way as to maximize your positive results. And believe me, we sincerely want you to be successful. We designed this program for a lifelong success. The time required now is quite so short compared to a remaining lifetime for you of being exactly what you want to be. So take the time.

And just relax. Take time and enjoy the experience. It's a wonderful experience. Right at the start you're going to change concepts and ideas. You're going to get rid immediately of any attachments you have to those dangle weight scales. Scales are no longer going to be a factor in your life. You can weigh yourself the first day that you began on your programming tape number 102A. That's the programming tape 102A. Then get those scales out of your sight. Get them out, completely out, of the reach of temptation.

You don't care about them anymore. You'll not use them again until such time as you have reached your image goal and then you might not even want to use them at that time. In the early stages of the program, you'll need to count calories for a brief period of time. There isn't any other way to do it. So I know you're sick of hearing about it, but you're going to have to do it. It won't be for long. All you need is just a very short and brief calorie guide. We're not going to use it long.

But you are going to need a tape measure. This is going to be your most important tool of all. And on the first day of using the programming tape 102, measure yourself. The measurements are simple and I have a sample guide with a little form, a little picture to show you what you need to measure. And on that same day, we're going to pretend now that we're going to kind of move along with this program, that we're participating as we go along in this discussion. And on that same day, you'll go into a room where there's a full-length mirror if possible, but any mirror will do.

If you don't have a full-length, don't worry about it. No biggie. I want you to completely disrobe. And then I want you to take a careful look at yourself. Hey, don't get all hang up about it. Just look at yourself. The objective, totally objective. The point is not to degrade yourself, but rather we want you to simply see what it is you wish to change. As of now you're going to stop degrading yourself.

I mean, stop it right now. You're a perfectly wonderful person. And you're going to start being kind, loving, and generous with yourself. Respect and love your body because as a matter of fact you've made it what it is, even if you don't like it and even if you're not aware you did it. Come on, God created you as a perfect creation, so don't degrade that body. It is perfect and you're going to learn to appreciate it. And you're also now going to change its shape into whatever pleases you. So study your image carefully, but with total objectivity. Just look at it like you would if you were looking at another body, somebody else's body.

You've got to know exactly what physical figure characteristics you're going to change. After you analyze yourself objectively, I want you to take a pen and paper and write down a minimum. More if you see them. But you must write at least three things about yourself that are pleasing and attractive. Maybe you've got beautiful eyes or shapely legs or a wonderful masculine chest if you're a man and a marvelous bust line if you're a woman. Come on, be generous with yourself.

Recognize your positive good points and be grateful for those gifts. And also recognize another thing. You're responsible for the good attributes just as well as for the ones you're now going to change. And now comes a fun exercise. Picture in your mind's eye yourself as you're going to appear when your goals are obtained. Now let me emphasize a point at this time. Don't limit that imagination.

Make that picture shape exactly as you want to look. If you picture yourself larger than you actually want to appear because you're afraid you can't reach that goal, forget it right now. You will quite easily reach whatever goal your mind pictures. I don't want you, however, to suggest to yourself that you need to lose a given number of pounds. Believe me, you don't care what you weigh. And you've got to right now begin to rid yourself of the weight hang-up. You can weigh two tons if your body shape and measurements are the ones you want to have.

And believe me, it looks great on an elephant. But from this moment forward, you're going to acquire. What you conceive in your subconscious mind is exactly what you're going to achieve. If you have a snapshot or any picture of yourself appearing slim and trim as maybe you once were and you felt really good about, put it out where you can see it. Many times every day. Get copies. Stick them all around.

If you don't have a picture, don't worry about it. If you don't have anything that represents what you're going to become, and believe me, many people don't. Boy, when I was heavy, I didn't want any pictures around. Go find one or several in a catalog or a magazine that generally fits the size and shape that you want to be. And transpose your own face onto the top of that image. Cut those pictures out and place those around where you see them each day. And pretend they're you. Put them on your bathroom mirror, on your refrigerator door.

Everybody puts a picture on the refrigerator door, so maybe you'd be a little different. Put it inside the refrigerator. Put one inside your wallet so that every time you take out your wallet or your checkbook is a good place. Every time you take it out, see what you're going to be. And after you've reached it, see what you are. Except you'll want to replace it then with a real picture. Just remember the subconscious mind functions as a computer and believes anything which you tell it to believe.

But now you've got to decide what you want your goal measurements to be. When you do, write those down also. You look at them often. Constantly keep them visualized in your mind. This is a very important and necessary step, so choose those measurements carefully. Because you're going to achieve those measurements. And that's the way your body is going to appear, exactly as you plan it. You're now ready to start on a very exciting journey to reach that dream goal. I want you to keep a writing pad and pen available. You're going to make a lot of entries onto it. Actually writing down an affirmation tremendously aids in entrenching ideas and visual images into the subconscious mind.

So take time today to begin a list of affirmations. Keep the list handy so you can add to it. List every positive item which comes to your mind regarding the following statement. I want to reach my goal. Blank, blank, blank, blank, blank. So, for instance, you could write down statements such as I want to reach my goal in order to have a marvelous appearance. Everybody wants to look better. Or I want to reach my goal because I know I'll be more physically fit. The doctors will get off your back about it.

You know, when I started my own list, I felt, oh, geez, I don't have many entries to put down there. But you know what I found? I had written down over 60 the first day. Now, this exercise is very important because when you arrive at your goal, you're going to find out something really interesting. All those things you've listed become actual accomplishments. They become a part of your whole reality. Just be careful to make every statement positive and make it a directive because you're now instructing your subconscious mind to fulfill your desires. Now before going any further, I want to discuss what is known as set points.

Every person has a set point. At some time in your past experience, your subconscious mind was programmed to require that your body weigh an approximate amount and to be an approximate size. Sometimes an explicit weight and size. Now, for whatever reason, you gave that particular set point to yourself. Now, you may not consciously want the set point you've given yourself, but you're gonna surely keep it until you actually reprogram your subconscious mind to accept new and different images of yourself.

After this is accomplished, the subconscious accepts this directive and becomes its natural function. This is why you will never again be concerned about being oversized following the conclusion of this program, if you use it right. You'll have completely changed your pattern and your subconscious mind will only allow you to appear as this new image and it will keep you at this goal until you replace that goal image with something else. So you're not going to want to do that. It may be that you're not aware of the reasons in your past that caused you to choose your set point.

Maybe you do know what caused you to set that set point. If you do, then you're ahead in this game. And you're going to move rapidly to begin making the changes. So if you don't know why you developed problems and ended up with an undesirable body size and shape, then we're going to isolate the problem from your past experiences and find the reasons. It's really simple and it's a lot of fun. Fun to go back and look at those things that have happened to you. So it would be appropriate at this time if you spend time listening to the tape that was numbered 103A.

You'll be listening in addition to whatever program tape. You're going to just follow the instructions as I outline them on the tape, and you'll recognize the pattern of related incidents that affect your personal set point. They're going to begin to emerge. You will begin to understand what incidents occurred which caused you to eat incorrectly. You will find what those feelings are that cause you to give yourself an undesirable set point. You're going to be able to look at and really see the reasons and situations objectively with your own inner eye. You can then move toward the reprogramming of your subconscious mind and the replacing of the undesirable images with your own desirable new data.

When the subconscious mind realizes the problems clearly it can then formulate solutions to those problems. You will be able to locate and isolate trigger feelings and recognize your responses to those feelings. Use tape 103A as often as you can until you know you have insight into your past experiences. You'll find the same situations appearing each and every time you listen. But new insights also occur every time you practice with the tapes. Sometimes the ah-ha slips into your conscious mind at the most odd and unexpected times, but be receptive when they come.

When this happens, take a minute if you can and write down the feelings and describe the picture which passed through your mind. You'll begin to really begin, you'll see the relationships of these different incidences from one valid single element. Your responses to that element can then be accepted and you can alter them as you choose to alter them. Let me use this example. Maybe mother said to you as a little child, oh, eat everything on your plate and you'll grow up to be big and strong. How could you as a child have the capability to realize overeating only makes one fat, not tall and strong? Let's take my husband for instance. In early high school he made a set point 190 pounds for whatever reason. Somehow to him this represented growing to be 6 foot 2 inches tall and covered with muscles. Well, he grew to 5 feet 10 inches tall and he is heavily muscled.

But you know what? He grew to fit his genetic height and the muscles came from extremely heavy work on a cattle ranch. Ever after that he was always 10 to 15 pounds overweight and could never get rid of the extra roll of fat around the middle. Over the years, the size creeped slowly but steadily larger and the little extra roll became a spare tire of undesirable size, as always. He's now been on this program. He's lost 40 pounds. He has a beautiful body. He's a new person.

He's completely changed his ideal set point and his miracle has happened. He is trim, the fat roll is gone and he feels wonderful. He's confident he'll never have to give his size or shape any further thought. He's locked in, the goal image into that subconscious mind. His appearance is one of total self-confidence and excellent health. And he's just one example. You can change your own set point quite easily by repetitious instructions and visualization of goal images and we'll help you every step and image of the way. This is accomplished totally without effort or in a state of hypnosis.

You will find yourself wondering why everyone in the world has used this method. And maybe someday it'll be the method. Those original measurements are only for the purpose of acting as a method by which you can actively measure your reduction progress. progress. When you reach your goal you'll be proud to see in writing just how much you've accomplished. Your subconscious mind has only one purpose and that is to achieve the goals and directives you give to it. So the goal measurements are the only important data. The subconscious mind must know exactly how it is to function.

And that information comes directly from you. And if you follow the instructions in this program diligently, you'll find you'll reduce a full clothing size all at least every three to four weeks. You'll be aware of your progress every day. You'll find you have a remarkable increase in energy, self-esteem, and physical well-being. Your mental attitude continually becomes happier and more positive with every passing day. I want you to fix in your mind a special room or place where you can mentally go on a regular basis to picture and enjoy the new you.

Come on, pretend a room with many mirrors where you can really carefully look at yourself as you want to be. You're going to enjoy that. See yourself from every angle. See yourself smiling happily, looking radiant, being exactly as you want to appear. You've got to image this scene in your mind many, many times every day, each day. You can train your subconscious mind to flash this image into your mind in just one split second.

And each time you do, you double the entrenchment of the image into your mind. You must be continually reinforcing your mental images upon your subconscious. Now so picture yourself participating in activities. See yourself in a group of people where you are outstandingly attractive and people are complimenting you on how wonderful you appear and on your vibrant personality. Come on, see yourself as a totally confident person in whatever situation you encounter. This is your mind. You be what you want to be. In reality, these images become factual.

They become you. Now, the only thing you're going to do the first seven days is listen to the learning self-hypnosis tape. Listen to it and practice a minimum of 14 times. More if you have the available time. You've got to be able to go into hypnosis quickly and easily in order to fully benefit from the programming tapes and you must know you're in hypnosis. Because by the time you get there you're going to know what hypnosis is because I put that on a tape. Then for the next four days, listen to your number 102A tape. Listen to it alone for those four days. Then on the fifth day, begin to also listen and practice with tape 103A in conjunction with that tape 102A.

Listen to both. Listen to them daily for the following three days. Now I don't want you to make any effort to count calories or drastically change your eating habits, except as it becomes comfortable for you. You'll find that you are very comfortable in cutting down the size portions you eat and will find that these portions fully satisfy your appetite and every day gets easier. You'll find that by the end of the first seven day period, you're conditioned to eat much less in quantity and desire to eat only foods which are healthy and slimming to your body. You're going to find that you're feeling a nagging eagerness to move on to the next stages of the program.

You're also going to find you have a tremendous amount of enthusiasm. And this is the magic of this method. You soon do whatever is necessary automatically and without conscious thought to achieve your new body shape, you simply want to do the right thing because you're reprogrammed to do the right thing. You only want to go eat the wrong things now simply because your subconscious mind urges you to do that in response to whatever input it had in the past, so you're going to change the input. Only in the early program are you going to have to give conscious thought to your food plan.

When you reach the end of the program, you'll find you simply no longer have the desire to stuff your body with rich and fattening foods. You'll be completely content and totally satisfied with small quantities of nourishing food. All of us know that it is rarely physiologic hunger which prompts us to eat. It is usually a purely psychological desire. Oh, the special, oh, the munchies. You're now becoming aware of what happens within your body and within your mind as relates to food. You learn now what and why you have been eating as you have in And you can now change the negative patterns permanently.

You'll please reduce drastically or exclude entirely refined sugar products such as rich desserts and alcoholic beverages. This is for two major reasons. Alcohol lowers inhibitions and allows the mind to revert to old habit patterns of overeating and indulgence and fattening foods. And it'll nag at you. And it'll say, hey, it's okay. Come on. Let those little inhibitions down. One more little bite won't hurt. Well, it will hurt. You're not going to do it. It also allows the mind to crave more food. And it stimulates that appetite. And you don't want any stimulation of your until we turn it off.

Alcohol ounce per ounce is extremely high in caloric content. And there will be a period early in the program where it will be necessary to delete them for a while at least. Cutting down greatly from the start will make that transition very easy. I want you to please stop using refined flour products. Breads and pastas should be of the whole grain variety. There's far more vitamin content in whole grain products as well as providing fiber necessary. Go out and get a little extra fiber and add it to your diet anyway. You need it. At this time you should be listening to your 102A programming tape as many times daily as you find it possible. And it's especially good for you to practice before your day begins. It's a boost to get you off to a good start. Listen again at lunchtime in the alert state if you can find time. Get a few friends if you don't want to be alone. They'll do well to listen to it even if they're skinny. They can maintain that beautiful skinny. The most effective time we found for listening and practicing truly is at bedtime. That's because you'd already be anticipating relaxation.

And your mind does its best sorting and data processing at night while you're asleep. Anytime you find a desire to eat without control, spend a few minutes with one of the tapes. You'll find the urge to eat will just vanish. Start working with tape 103B in addition to 103A of your programming tape. You will find problem solutions coming to you even in your dreams. If you've now satisfactorily completed the first two segments of the program, then it's time to move on to tape 102B. Use this tape along with tape 103A and 103B for the next week. Seven full days. Listen and practice often, every day.

Now, the next segment, tape 104, is a restricted portion of the program, and I'll explain why it's necessary to be restrictive. The remaining of the discussion will be on the reverse side of this tape.
